One of the first dates that my husband and I went on was to a BBQ-style restaurant. Much to my embarrassment, it was the first time that I had eaten ribs. I know, it sounds crazy to eat a plate of messy ribs on a first date, but my husband insisted that I try them after he heard that I had never had them before. They were incredible I have to admit. Since that day, we would often get or make ribs at home, now that we knew we shared the same love for the dish. They were always so tender and meaty.
There was one problem with making them at home though. They took so much time to do. It was something that we often had to reserve to do on the weekends when we were going to have a minute to work on them. That was until we found this recipe on Group Recipes.
Ribs in the crock pot? Of course! Why didn’t I think of that? I couldn’t wait to make them. They were so simple, and like most things that you slow cook, so nice and tender. We didn’t even make any extra sides that first time I made them. We just sat and ate a pan of ribs… and I’m not even ashamed to say so!
Ingredients
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup flour
1/3 cup water
1/2 cup vinegar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
3 pounds pork spareribs
Directions
Mix brown sugar and flour in a saucepan.
Add water, then vinegar, soy sauce, ketchup, ginger, and garlic powder. Cook and stir over medium heat until boiling and thickened.
Layer ribs in crockpot, spooning sauce over each layer.
Cover and cook on Low for 10-12 hours or on High for 5-6 hours until ribs are very tender.
Enjoy!
